What Causes Orange Brown Spots On The Edge Of The Iris?
I have some orange brown spots in my hazel colored eys. I just noticed that one of the spots that I have had for years and is located at the edge of the iris now extends not even 1 mm inro the white part of the eye. I cannot find any information regarding this type of symptom.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
The orange brown spots at the border of iris are eye freckles. They are made of melanocytes. The cells which give color to your skin and eye. When multiple freckles unite it forms Nevus. They are like mole, only on surface and do not cause any problem in eye function. Only treatment is needed if it takes a form of melanoma (growing very fast). So don't be strained. Keep on observing it and visit ophthalmologist if found to be progressive.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
