What Causes Overactive Thyroid While On Amlodipine?

Age = 48 Height = 5 9 Weight = 11 stone 9 pounds History of hypertension with various medications, currently 5mg Amlodipine daily for past two years Now diagnosed with overactive thyroid, waiting for detailed tests What are the chances that Amlodipine is the cause, or at least a contributory factor?

Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. I have seen many cases with similar complaints.As per your history , Please find your answer below-:
1)Amlodipine has no role to make your thyroid over active
2)There are some factors responsible for it these are -graves disease,toxic adenoma,plummer's disease,and thyroiditis.
3)Do thyroid scan as well as hormone assay
(Prognosis good)
