What Causes Pain Above Belly Button?

It all started when I felt a dull pain just above my belly button....I assumed it was gas or constipation so I decided to take dulcolax but that made it hurt worse. Soon the pain began radiating to my right bottom side so I decided to take pepto but its not getting better. I have a low grade fever and when I try to move it hurts. I did a little research but with a lot of strain I can fart but its painful. And when I try to relieve myself all that comes out is mucous.

Hi,

There are several possible causes of pain above the belly button, including:
* Gastrointestinal Issues: Pain above the belly button can be caused by a variety of gastrointestinal issues, such as acid reflux, stomach ulcers, or gastritis.
* Appendicitis: Appendicitis is a condition where the appendix becomes inflamed and infected, causing pain that typically starts around the belly button and moves to the lower right side of the abdomen.
* Pancreatitis: Pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas, which can cause pain in the upper abdomen that radiates to the back.
* Gallstones: Gallstones can cause pain in the upper abdomen, particularly on the right side, and can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting.
* Abdominal Muscle Strain: An abdominal muscle strain or tear can cause pain above the belly button, particularly if you have been doing strenuous exercise or lifting heavy objects.

Based on your symptoms, appendicitis is a possible concern, and you should seek medical attention immediately. Other possible causes such as pancreatitis, gallstones, or other gastrointestinal issues cannot be ruled out without a proper medical examination. Your healthcare provider may conduct blood tests, imaging tests, and a physical exam to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
