What Causes Pain Above Elbow On The Back Of Arm?

I keep getting a sharp pain starting from about 3 inches above my elbow on the back of my arm and feels like a huge needle is going in there ans then down into the joint of my elbow. somtimes it happens every 30 seconds or so and somtimes every few minutes, any ideas and do i need to go see a doctor
