What Causes Pain Above Prominentia Laryngea While Swallowing?

What would cause one area of my lower throat just above adams apple to ache or hurt when swallowing food or water. But the more i eat or drink at that same time it feels better. But it does hurt sometimes during the day just working. I sometimes feel better and think its gone then i eat or drink again then its back and i can feel it.

Hello,

Pain in the throat above the Adam's apple is commonly due to swollen or inflamed epiglottis. Other factors that may cause similar symptoms are enlargement of the thyroid gland, acute thyroiditis. Serious medical condition is goiter, it may cause tightness in the throat, difficulty is swallowing and breathing. You can take analgesic (Acetaminophen) to reduce discomfort, one SOS when required. Gargle the throat with warm water and salt twice daily.

Take semi solid food so that your throat doesn't hurt. Stay away from addictions if any. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP or ENT, get blood tests and imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be treated accordingly.
