What Causes Pain Above The Navel?

Hi, I have noticed a finger tip sized area about two inches above my navel that hurts slightly when pressed, but only when pressed. It feels exactly like pressing a bruise, only there s no visible bruise. The pain feels like it s right on the surface. There is no swelling or lump of any kind.

Hello,

You are experiencing pain above the navel. It hurts slightly when pressed. There is no visible bruise. Pain above the navel are commonly caused by appendicitis, gastrointestinal spasms, or food poisoning. You are suggested to take antacids or PPI's, one SOS when discomfort to reduce pain due to gastritis, gastric reflux (heartburn). It may also be due to stomach ulcer. Take home made boiled food for a couple of days. Avoid taking oily, spicy, junk food as it may trigger your symptoms.

Sometimes, such pain is indicative of duodenal ulcer (inflammation of the small intestine), gallstones that cause inflammation of the gallbladder, inflammation of the liver, appendicitis or musculoskeletal stretching, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP, get all required tests and investigations, imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
