What Causes Pain Across The Fat Pad In My Knee Post Meniscectomy?

I recently had a menisechtomy and I'm having trouble with reffered pain across my fat pad in my knee. Almost like a shock feeling. I talked to my surgeon about this and he told me that I'm just gonna have to live with it. Should I get a second opinion?
