What Causes Pain After Undergoing Vasectomy?

My partner had a vascetomy approx six weeks ago and everything went well and only had discomfort for a few days. From yesterday he has been experiencing awful pain and can hardly move. Pain killers are no longer giving relief from the pain.Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

Hi,

If I were your treating Doctor for this case of severe pain, I would suggest you to go to the surgeon immediately for examining the site of vasectomy. It may be post-procedure hematoma that is stagnation of blood leads some infection and inflammatory changes that causing pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pramod Kokare, General & Family Physician
