What Causes Pain And Burning Sensation During Urination?

I have been having pain in the right upper quadrant pain for the last 4 years. It comes and goes. When I get an episode, I feel like I'm going to explode and the pain goes to my back. In 2011, I had a sonogram which showed a mild prominence of the common bile duct. I had an unremarkable MRCP also in 2011. In 2012, I had an endoscopy and CT scan and everything came out normal. My RUQ pain continues and I had another sonogram. It shows a mildly dilated common bile duct without evidence of obstructive calculi or pancreatic head tumor. The remainder of the abdominal sonogram is unremarkable. What causes the dilation of the common bile duct? At what point should I be concerned?

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Pain and burning sensation during urination is most commonly due to urinary tract infection. This problem can also arise due to urinary or kidney stones. However this has no correlation to bile duct enlargement in you.

Enlarged bile duct is most commonly caused due to obstruction by gall stones. Other common cause of enlarged bile duct are chronic pancreatitis(infection of pancreas) & tumours.
Enlarged common bile duct along with right upper quadrant pain should never be ignored. You should proceed with treatment right now. With time this problem will only increase. A MRI scan would be more helpful.

Refer to your gastroenterologist
Hope this helps
