What Causes Pain And Dark Discoloration On Middle Of Right Foot?

I think that a vein in my foot had burst but I am not sure. There is an area around the left middle part of my right foot that is just as big as a small bouncy ball. When I lightly press it, it hurts. It looks like a bruise... But not really. The spot goes over a vein. In the area the top and the bottom parts are the darkest and in the middle it is a light brownish. You cannot see the vein because the area is so dark. There is nothing going wrong with my foot and or my leg that I have noticed. I had noticed the spot about 2-3 days ago. Should I see my doctor...? Or do I just have to wait for it to heal...?

1. It could be blockage of small blood vessels in the foot which reduces the flow of oxygen and blood to the tissues.

2. Since there are no acute symptoms emergency treatment is not necessary but should see a doctor (or vacular surgeon) at once to exclude small emboli in the vessel and may advice x-ray/MRI of toe and foot.

3. Other common conditions to exclude is/are:
. bruise or contusions
. Hematoma
