What Causes Pain And Dent In Left Shin Caused After Injury?

My daughter who is 7 and 39lbs fell and hit her shins on a wooden step. The right bruised and puffed out. But the left shin area dented in. She is having trouble bending at the knee, saying it hurts her in the shin bone and at the knee. Could this be a fracture in the shin bone? We have iced both shine areas and gave children s Advil. Contemplating whether to take her to ER, how long should we wait?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
i can understand your concern.
i would advise an xray of the left leg ap and lateral views to rule out any fracture.
restricted movements, deformity of the injured part, severe pain are indicators that there might be a fracture.
continue applying ice over the affected part.
paracetamol 250mg thrice daily would help with the pain.
kindly take her to the er as soon as possible for xray and further management.
hope i have answered your queries.
thanks for choosing HCM.
