What Causes Pain And Discomfort In Right Side Of The Rib Cage?

I have a pain in my right side of my rib cage and it feels like something is moving when I breathe. Sometimes it feels like something snapped when I cough and the pain is unbearable. Went to ER and the did exrays cat scan and ultrasound and found nothing unusual. Had this for three months and it s getting worse have you any idea what this could be?

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain and discomfort in right side of the rib cage . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like liver damage , kidney stone , kidney infection , pancreatitis , angina , pinched nerve or gastric problem . Broken rib can also cause such symptoms .I would suggest you to consult cardiologist for proper examination and rule out serious condition like angina . Doctor may order ECG, TMT along with complete blood profile and troponin t test . Doctor may prescribe isosorbide dinitrate , beta blockers , furosemide , sedative and aspirin . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon if there will be broken rib or muscle . For now continue taking advil , stay calm and apply warm compresses to back . Do not work in one pose for long time and do not lift heavy object .
