What Causes Pain And Discomfort In The Lower Back?

I have a low pain, slight discomfort on right side of lower back. It seems more internal than a back muscle strain. I notice more discomfort when sitting. I have a history of kidney stone issues. I normally get nauseous and vomit a few times when stones move out of kidney. This has not happened. I have felt this way for about 5 days.

Hi,

The history of renal stones suggests strongly that the pain you have is likely to be due to stone in the pelvis of the right kidney.

Plain X-ray of the back would confirm the cause followed by treatment with medicines or surgical removal if the stone is big in size.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
