What Causes Pain And Feeling Of Tightness In Scrotum With Minor Discomfort?

Hi Doctor, 3 days ago I was on a long road trip and held my urine for quite (too) long. Made it to my hotel and released myself. However since the day after this incident , I have had a strange pain in my lower scrotum area, feeling as if it is coming from approx. just to the right of my pelvic bone. It is not an unbearable pain, just a constant feeling of tightness and a bit of discomfort. I have no pain or problems urinating though. Have a feeling that due to the prolonged holding of my urine I may have contracted some sort of UTI, but not sure if there could be other reasons for this condition? Thanks, John

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Prolonged holding of urine is not likely to cause infection (UTI). Pain in scrotum can occur due to various causes. UTI can be ruled out by getting a urine routine examination, culture and drug sensitivity. Trauma can also be one of the causes of scrotal pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
