Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 30 weeks and 5 Days today, I have been experiencing heaviness due to my enlarged stomach. But for the last two weeks whenever I go to the store or flea market and walk for more than 5 minutes I get a sharp jabbing pain in my left abdomen, I also noticed that I d also happen when I am laying down. I also noticed I have white mucus like substance which I guess is discharge. I don t know what to think sometimes the pain is intense what should I do?
It is quite common to have some abdominal pain or discomfort towards last trimester, mainly attributable to high intra-abdominal pressure on various organs and tissues. If the pain is not very severe, not progressive, and you are perceiving baby's movements as usual, nothing to be worried.
While laying down, keeping left lateral position will help a bit as it relieves pressure on other organs to some extent. Also have a fibre rich diet and enough fluids to have a smooth bowel, as constipation can make the pain worse.
White mucus discharge now is physiological and normal. Only watery, bloody, foul smelling discharge needs to be evaluated.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
