What Causes Pain And Inflammation In The Throat?
I developed a sore throat Monday evening. It was painful all of Tuesday, but by Wednesday morning it had settled to just the right side of my throat. I looked at my throat in a mirror, and the tonsil is red and swollen, and there appear to be some yellowish/white nodes behind it near the back of my throat. I do not want to go to the doctor, because my co-pay is too high.

It may be sore throats which is nothing but inflammation in the throat caused by bacterial infection.
You can start on short course of antibiotics like Amoxicillin.
Do warm saline gargles and take antihistamines like Levocetirizine for symptomatic relief.
Nothing much to worry and the symptoms will settle in couple of days.
