What Causes Pain And Inflammation On The Finger Tips?

My daughter has had pain in her finger tips for couple weeks. Today she woke up complaining how they just burn. I decided to check it out....since I have just putting her off. She has bright red marks from top of each fingers first joint to the finger tips. They seem to be wider at the tips of her fingers. She said it feels like lots of tiny little cuts. Any idea what it could be? Or what I can do?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history related to your daughter developing pain in fingertips and now red marks. This surely is a serious problem which need a proper evaluation, examination and detailed investigations.

Consult your Doctor for preliminary examination and get reference to the Specialist as needed and decided by your Doctor. She will need a battery of investigations, the most important are listed below.
Blood tests for autoimmune diseases, thyroid profile, sugar, kidney and liver functions.
Color doppler for arteries of upper limbs.
Tests for Raynaud's phenomenon and disease.

Al these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus allow for proper management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
