What Causes Pain And Itching In The Ears?

Hi... I have had an issue with my ear for about 2 years after a flight. It get painful a few days, than goes away. Lately, there feels like water in it... and also sometimes it feels itchy. I have had a sinus infection for the past 10 days... and this morning I woke up with about an inch wide pool of blood on my pillow. No sight of blood on me. I used a Q tip and found bright red blood on it. My ear was the cause of blood on my pillow. Is this from my sinus infection?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain ear ache along with blood leaking from the ear are indications of ear infection and can be secondary to sinus infection or sinusitis.

I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like otoscopy, x ray etc can help in diagnosis..

You can be advised antibiotic and analgesic ear drops along with oral antibiotics and painkillers and at times manual drainage of ears along with placement of pressure equalisation tubes can help..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
