What Causes Pain And Itching In The Eye With History Of Elevated BP?
Hello, I have a friend who has high blood pressure. He had really bad allergies as a child , but later in life got better. but he has now for the last few years had problems with one of his eyes , allergy symptoms:itchy, watery, trouble opening in the morning, pain in the back of the eye like pressure on the eye..only 1 eye. What could be the problem with the eye ?
Hello, greetings! Thanks for your query. High Blood Pressure affects a number of organs like eyes, kidney, heart. High Blood Pressure, if not treated relevantly, can cause a situation called hypertensive retinopathy. In this situation, high blood pressure affects the blood vessels in the retina, situated in the back of the eye. This may lead to headaches, pressure sensation on the eye and if not treated in time, dimness/blindness of eye. I would suggest your friend to get an eye test including a retinal examination done by a local opthalmologist, to note the extent and severity of the problem. If need be, the antihypertensive medicines or their dose may need to be changed.
