What Causes Pain And Pressure In The Jaws And Teeth?
I have been having jaw pain for about two days, and pain in a tooth when I put pressure on it. This afternoon and still now, the right half of my lip and chin and halfway back my cheek are tingly/partially numb. I got a filling in the tooth about 6 weeks ago. Saw my dentist today... she says I'm likely to need a root canal in that tooth, but she stated that she did not think the numbness in my face was related to the tooth. I think it MUST be related. I can take prescription strength Ibuprofen for the pain, but what is causing the numbness, and what can I do to make it go away?
Many a times if there is abscess formation with respect to the tooth in subject then it can put pressure over the nerve and cause numbing of the nearby area..
But if the entire side of face is involved then you should consult a Neurophysiology and get evaluated and if there is some nerve related problem suspected, an MRI Scan can help in narrowing down the cause and treat accordingly..
Also by the time start with the Root Canal treatment and watch of the symptoms get better..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
