My two week old piercing is still red and hurts a little, some people are saying its infected, but its not creating a green or yellow puss and it doesnt smell, if been soaking it with hot water and salt. I dont kow what else to do, is it still infected?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain pain and redness at the ear piercing site seems to be due to infection caused by bacteria and it is not necessary that it should cause pus formation and pain and redness can be a sign of infection while it can also be due to allergic reaction to the metal that is used in earring as metals can react when exposed to air and water and also cause irritation and irritation of skin around the piercing site.. You can gently remove the earring and clean the area with an antiseptic solution and apply a triple antibiotic ointment over it.. Yo can also do cold compresses over the area as it will help in reducing inflammation and redness.. Once it heals if possible wear earrings made of gold or plastic as they are inert materials and will not cause reaction..
Hope this information helps..
