What Causes Pain And Shift In The Position Of Rib Cages?

My left side rib cage is higher than right side, when I press it it s kind of spasm pain I feel. I had an x-ray over a week ago, I had a phone call from the doctor yesterday, but he can t tell me what exactly the result, it s kind of infection I had and he gave an antibiotics for a week and after six week I have to go for another X-ray . I m wondering what it could be?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

I guess he was seeing an infection in the lung or pleura in your left chest which was causing the pain and spasm and for which he gave you antibiotics. An infection in the ribs is not a possibility as that take long term medications fr treatment. It would be important to know if you had any cough and fever and if your symptoms have improved after antibiotics. It is best if you can send across the X ray image for better interpretation.
