What Causes Pain And Soreness In Jaw After Facial Injury?

Hi i fell over face furst onto lawn/hard durt. My jaw has been sore since in the joint. Doesnt hurt to open wide...but does to bite/chew. Teeth are aliens normal and can speak normal...slight pain. My ear is slightly painful also. It has been roughly two days. Will this take a bit long to settle?? Or do i need to go for an xray??

Hi.
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there has been Temporomandibular Joint Disorder [TMJ/TMD] as a result of trauma and it is leading to pain on chewing as well as pain in ear which is also due to injury as there can be injury to the articular disc present as a cushion between the two bony parts of the joint..
There can also be inflammation of the muscles of the jaw as a result of trauma..

You should consult an oral physician and get evaluated and along with a full mouth x ray [OPG] to rule out the exact cause of pain although it does not seems to be anything serious as per your explanation..
As of now you can do ice packs over the painful side..
Take a combination of muscle relaxant and painkiller like FLEXON-MR or NUCOXIA -MR twice daily..
Massage the muscles of the affected side with fingers using a oil or a moisturizer..
Take a soft and bland diet..
Avoid excessive mouth opening and eating hard foods..

Hope this information helps..
