What Causes Pain And Stiffness In Knee Along With Low Grade Fever?

Two days ago, my left knee got hot and swollen, and I decided to drain a whitehead on the knee which only made it more painful. I went to a GP who said it was an infection and diagnosed it as cellulitis. She prescribed 10 days of Doxycycline 100mg. I have been taking Doxycycline for three days, and it has not really helped the pain/stiffness in my knee (my knee is still hot, and I can t walk well). I have a low-grade fever 99.5F. Can you offer any guidance?

Hi,

Based on the history doxycycline does not seem to be effective for the treatment of cellulitis. I suggest you to take dicloxacillin or amoxicillin+clavulonic acid which are effective in such conditions. If you are allergic to penicillins Clindamycin is an effective alternative. I also suggest aceclofenac and serratiopeptidase for the painful swelling.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
