What Causes Pain And Stiffness In Left Knee?

hi, i am 28 yrs old. i am experiencing pain and stiffness in my left knee. it started without any particular reason about a week ago. the stiffness comes when i try to get up after sitting on a chair. but when i start walking the pain is not there. also when i lie down during some positions i feel the pain. what could be wrong?
