What Causes Pain And Stiffness In Wrist After An Injury?

Two/ three weeks ago- I fell on the stairs whilst carrying some breakable glasses so I fell awkwardly trying to protect the glasses. Ever since I have had continual pain in my wrist. I can move my fingers and my wrist but when I flex it forward and back it hurts when moved back. If I try to bare weight on my hand as in pushing down it hurts mainly on the side where my thumb is and across my wrist. It almost feels as if something is stuck in-between my wrist but it continues to ache. The space in-between my thumb feels very stiff also. I have no been to the doctors yet and have been treated at home.
