What Causes Pain And Swelling Around The Wrist?

Hello. I ve never had any issues at all with my pisiform bone, but today I ve noticed when letting my wrist rest, I had a bruised like pain at and right next to my pisiform bone. It s a little swollen and red when rubbing it and when I use more force it gives a little bit of a crunchy feeling, plus giving it a feeling that it lies deeper when pushing at the side of my pisiform bone (right next to the bump ). I haven t done anything with my wrist so I am very clueless what it could be since it s the first time I have pain at my pisiform bone. Can somebody inform me what s wrong and what I can do about it? Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It might be an early sign of conditions like carpel tunnel syndrome(CTS). As the first line of management, you can take analgesics like acetaminophen or tramadol for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult an orthopaedician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
