What Causes Pain And Swelling In Ankle Weeks After Getting Sprained?

I sprained my right ankle on both the inside and outside of my ankle. I had xrays and the doctor told me that it was not broken, just a sprain. It has been 6 weeks and it is still swollen and I have a pain on the inside of my ankle whenever I jump. I have been doing physical therapy and they told me it was ok for me to return to playing basketball, but I was just wondering if there is something else that could be causing this pain on the inside of my ankle that is more serious that just a sprain.
