What Causes Pain And Swelling In Finger Joints?

My eating habits are not to good.I went to see my doctor and she was saying something about sectioning if i'm not going to improve,but i refused to continue going for visits.My fingers joints are painfull and swollen,and is really worying me...Can they sectioned me?why they doing this?
