What Causes Pain And Swelling In Knee After An Injury?

I am a volleyball coach and at practice I landed wrong on my knee and slowly over the past 24 hours the pain has increased. It is slightly swollen and painful but the biggest issue is that I cannot fully straighten my leg now. I can bend it but not extend it fully. What is the issue?
