What Causes Pain And Swelling In Left Foot Post Left Hip Surgery?

In May of this year I fell and broke my left hip and left elbow. I am 61 years old but in good health, no issues. Surgery went fine, bones are healed and released from doctor care last month. Since I have been able to put full weight on my left leg, I have had swelling, pain and heat in my left foot. It started on top of my foot near my toes and I know this sounds really weird, but the pain and swelling MOVE around my foot. It went to the outside of my ankle, then to the back of my ankle. These movements have taken place over a period of a couple months. It is painful to take steps and I m getting tired of it. Could it be that my joints are just getting used to being used again?

Hi,

Foot, leg, and ankle swelling is also known as peripheral edema, which refers to an accumulation of fluid in these parts of the body. The buildup of fluid usually isn't painful, unless it's due to injury. One or more areas in the lower body may be affected.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
