What Causes Pain And Swelling In Legs?

I was once told my a health care provider who practiced alternative medicine tell me that my chronic leg pain was from my lymphatic system not working properly. I do have minor swelling, and pain in both legs but the right leg has significantly more pain. Pain increases when I am up and around but it doesn't go away at rest. Do any of these symptoms ring true to a lymphatic system problem?
