What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Area Of Hernia After Surgery?

I had left inquinal hernia recurring repair surgery 1 week ago. I still have pain and swelling in the area of hernia. Should the hernia recurred? it was 15 years ago that the first left inquinal was performed,now it has returned and bigger more scare tissue has resulted.Why? should I still have a swelling area,and pain.is it ok to bend over to pick up items less than 10 lbs.? advise Craig
