I have I have had on going foot pin for a long time. Feels like walking with broken glass in your feet. Some days I can t stand up. Mostly in area of little toe and next toe, on up my foot. My foot is swollen and I wake up with purple toes. Not bunions, not on bottom of foot. But it does start in balls of my feet and moves up. This even wakes me up in my sleep

Hello,

Pins & needles type pain in the foot is an indication of damaged nerves due to trauma, overuse, obesity, standing job, etc. You are suffering from Peripheral Artery Disease.

Get physically examined. Get Nerve Conduction tests, CBC, Urinalysis, tests for RA & OA done at the earliest. Get evaluated, get treated.

In the meantime, take NSAIDS, Naproxen, one sos when pain, apply ointment Thrombophob (Heparin gel) on the areas of your foot getting purple, it'll help remove blood clots below the skin. Do regular exercises, avoid sedentary lifestyle.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
