What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knee After An Injury?

My daughter injured her knee 10 months ago.It was a partial tear of ligaments. It healed in 3 months. She was doing fine when she accidentally sprained it last month.MRI shows hyperintense ligaments and minimal effusion. Her knee starts paining with exertion with mild swelling in foot. She is doing quadrriceps exercises and taking NSAIDS. I need some guidance for future care and how can it heal completely.

Hello,

Tears of ligaments around knee joint take very long to heal. The surrounding muscles need to be made strong by exercises to avoid spraining in future.

NSAIDS will help to relieve the pain, however, long term use is not recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
