What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knees?

I have been having pain beginning with my left knee which is fine now, then my right knee. I don t know what I did other than typical exercises I usually do. Today my right knee is also really swollen and I can t straighten it fully or bend it fully either making it difficult to walk on. Any ideas of what is going on or how I can help it along?
