What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Knees?

I started at the gym and about 7 weeks ago. Probably harder and faster that my body could handle. Two weeks into working out I hurt my knees. They hurt to do squats, sit down, stand up, go down stairs and up stairs. I m not sure if this is a separate issue but I m exhausted all the time. I would think after 7 weeks of working out I would start to get more energy. My knees hurt to touch and inside they feel they are swollen or on fire. Every where I read says arthritis. Could it be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Arthritis is inflammation of the joints and there are different possible causes. Wear and tear of the joints is one of the most common reasons for arthritis, it causes osteoarthritis.

Other types of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, infection, related to psoriasis, gout. These are only a few.

It would be best to be seen by your doctor. Diagnosis would require examination of the joint , blood tests and imaging.

I hope this helps
