Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. About 2 months ago I was working in my yard when a neighbor came by and I noticed some pain in my right knee. To make a long story short I am still having this pain. At one point not only was my knee swollen but my calf and foot were swollen also. That lasted about 3 weeks if not more. The swelling in my calf and foot are no longer there but the pain and swelling in my knee is still there everyday all day. Nightly I m putting ice packs on it, rubbing it down with alcohol and keeping it elevated. Sometimes it feels a little better but I know he pain is still there. I just moved to a new city with a new job and waiting for my medical benefits to start so I can see a doctor but today it is really affecting my life so I m reaching out to you for some help until July 10th. Please give me some advice. Thank you
It sounds like arthritis. If you are young it might not be osteoarthritis rather it may be Rheumatoid arthritis which is commoner in females though or gout which is common in males and alcoholics. But to be sure we need an X-ray of the joint and also we need some blood tests especially ESR, CRP, RA factor, and uric acid.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Harshita
