What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Legs Upon Exposure To The Sun?

I have very fair skin and have been sunburnt on the front and back of both of my legs. The burn was nearly 48 hours ago and my legs began swelling 24 hours after the burn. I have applied burn gel taken cool baths but pain and swelling are still very bad. Should I seek medial attention from a GP at this stage?

Hello,

The lesions are most probably due to sunburn. You need to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment. However, in the meanwhile you can apply gel to soothe the burnt area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
