What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Shin And Calf?

My husband started out having pain in his shin which he thought was shin splints. Then pain moved to the front of his ankle and finally is now in his lower calf above ankle bone. His lower leg is swollen. This all started about two weeks ago. Wondering if this could be gout, a blod clot or something else?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

According to history given there are possibility of deep vein thrombosis..

You should get investigated with colour doppler USG examination for seeing clot if present

If clot not present than gout or other joint problem can be suspected
For that local part x ray can be done

Take care

Hope this information will be beneficial to you

Consult physician for examination and further work up accordingly
