Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have horrible stomach pain. It is very much extended and swollen. It hurts so bad. It hurts to move. I went to my GI doctor last week, and she put me on simethicone 4x day for gas. She also added ranitidine at bedtime. I had a gastric bypass several years ago, so 6 feet of my intestines were removed. I am in a nursing home for now. I am having a hard time with having a bm . I have to take a laxitive to be able to go. When at home, that was not the case. Since on this new med for gas, it is a lot worse! What would be the best med?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As the pain intensity is more, it does not sound to be simple gastritis.
I predict it to be developing bowel obstruction keeping in memory the past history of resection and anastomosis.
It is strongly recommended to evaluate the case thoroughly with x-ray -- abdomen standing, ultrasound with or without CT scan for the final diagnosis and precise management accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Purva Patel
