Hi Doctor, I have had a sore throat for the last 5 days. My amygdalas were swollen for the last several days but have decreased in swelling after taking painkiller. However they are still abnormally red. My throat is still sore and I noticed that all of the veins in my throat are visible. I am physically exhausted, like I just ran a marathon after getting up for water or food. I don t have a fever or any other cold symptoms. Any ideas?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of pain and swelling in throat which could be due to infection of the tonsil or pharynx, ulcer over tonsils, blockage of sinuses and respiratory tract infection. It could be due to poor and compromised immunity of body. Need not to worry much as blood in sputum is due to infection of sinuses. Take antibiotics along with anti-inflammatory medications. Visit pulmonologist/ ENT specialist once and get it examined if symptoms keeps on persisting. Apply humidifiers in room. Do warm saline gargles and get complete examination of blood count along with swab and sputum test. Start treatment after proper prescription. You should take green tea on daily basis in morning. Take nasal sprays on daily basis as it will open up sinuses and blood will not be discharged.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
