Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain And Swelling On The Rim Of The Ear?
My husband has pain and swelling on the rim of his outer ear. His ear lobes are tender too. He might have a rash on the back of his neck. I ve noticed that his hearing has seemed poor in the last few days on the affected side. He has hearing loss and wears hearing aids. Touching the red swollen area on his ear is quite painful.
On outer lobe of ear, it could be a boil which can be treated by taking antibiotic and applying antiseptic ointment. If hearing problem is before this outer ear pain then it might be not related to this outer ear problem. But if it happened after having outer ear pain and neck rash, then it should be evaluated thoroughly by ENT doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Maheshwari
