Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I think I have a hairline fracture but I do not know how to tell if it is there I have tenderness all up my right front of my leg from my big toe then shooting pains up my leg to my knee and I have a tensor bandage on it I had a hot shower when I said but it’s still really hurts I was kicking the soccer ball and actually get the gravel kicking the soccer ball and it would hurt ever since then should I go see the doctor or ice it and see how goes?.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
A hairline fracture cannot be diagnosed without an X-ray. It is important to determine whether it is a hairline fracture or not. I would advise you to get an X-ray done as soon as possible as it is not advisable to self-diagnose yourself.
If it is a hairline fracture, then you would only be required to rest the affected leg and apply a crepe bandage. But if it is a complete fracture, then you will be required to get your leg in a cast.
Meanwhile, you can take an over-the-counter painkiller like Advil medicine to relieve the pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.amman
