What Causes Pain And Tenderness On The Left Index Finger?

My left index finger hurts, tender to the touch at the knuckle. I also have a knot , that is under the skin above the knuckle and to far inside top of finger. Since I stopped my yard today, with gloves, my entire finger is stiff and can hurts with pressure from the finger nail down to the joint in the hand. Could this be a spiderbite of some knd? Should I apply heat or ice to easy pain and swelling?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it seems to be due to some insect bite in your yard.

Wash the finger properly with warm water adding a pinch of soda bicarb in it.
Look for any entangled mouth piece or hair in skin,
try to remove it gently.
Have over the counter pain medicine (Ibuprofen) twice a day & Cetrizine once at night if you have itching.
Consult your doctor if there is no relief In 2-3 days.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
