Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I came home after an hour drive and all of a sudden my calf was tight and hurting when I walked. I noticed only one part of my calf is tender to the touch. I tried to sleep and elevate it and I would get shocking stabbing pains going all the way to my hip. I also experience numbness and tingling. The discomfort gets worse with walking. I have no swelling or redness but it has been three days with no change in pain or condition. I have been on birth control pills for 2 years and recently switched to the ring. So this was so sudden it had me thinking it might be a blood clot. I was wondering what do you think. Should I get it checked out?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sushant's Response
Hello, In my opinion these symptoms may be due to DVT(deep venous thrombosis). Since you have been on birth control pills, you should get your leg examined and have an ultrasound Doppler done(since birth control pills may increase the risk for DVT). Avoid massaging the affected area.
