I ve been experiencing tightness in my chest with pain that goes in the left side of my back under the bone. I went to the ER and they did blood work, an EKG, a chest x-ray and sent me home with 600mg ibruprofen. That was a month ago. The pain has nt completely gone. If I take something it will ease a bit. Since yesterday I have been feeling the tightness again with the pain in my back, with nausea, constant burping and today slight numbness in my left arm. I think I should go to the ER again, what is your suggestion? Thank you.
In my own practice, I have always preferred to have patients try lifestyle modification such as diet and exercise before starting medication. In many cases, when people are very committed to doing so, lifestyle modifications are enough to bring blood pressure down into a normal range. so in y opinion you should visit ER immediately, this could be vasospastic angina as well
If you decide to go the lifestyle modification route, it would be a very good idea to get a consultation with a dietician/nutritionist. They can help you to know what food choices are best and how many calories.
To start, please eliminate all added sugars such as in sodas. Also, when eating carbohydrates, choose complex carbohydrates such as from whole, minimally processed grains rather than refined white flours. aerobic exercises regularly
I hope this information helps you in your decision process. Best wishes to you
