What Causes Pain And Tingling Sensation On The Left Shoulder?
Hello Doctor, thanks in advance. I am quite active, a bit pudgy and 60 years old. I just took my 7th trip rowing a 2000 lb raft 280 miles down the Colorado river in March. Since then Iave noticed a non painful, tingling sensation in the area of the left shoulder blade and into the lower neck left side. Today I sneezed and noticed a burning sensation in the same area. Any ideas?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for asking. I undrstand your concern. The tingling sensation in sholdr/scapular area you discribe is mostly due to cervical spinal stress/inflammation /disc problem following the hectic activity of river refting. Age wise bony weakness /degenerative changes predispose such a trauma. Xray/MRI to diagnose the exact nature of stress &get specifuc treatment from an orthopedic doctor (medicines, local injection, phyuotherapy or surgery if no relief) would be the answer. Thanks.
