What Causes Pain And Weakness In The Knee?

Hello, I have consulted my orthpaedic doctor about weakness and pain in my left knee. He referred me out for physical therapy about two weeks ago. Last night I noticed that I have a numb sensation down the front of my leg that runs from ankle to just above my knee. Should I contact my ortho doc this weekend or wait until Monday?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Numbness of leg is common symptom of weak knee joint.
So no need to worry much for this or consult your orthopedic doctor in the emergency.
You can wait till Monday.
By your history and description, possibility of osteoarthritis of knee joint is more likely.
Physiotherapy should be done vigorously to prevent knee replacement.
But if your weakness worsens even after physiotherapy then replacement is the only option.
So discuss about this with your orthopedic doctor. No need for emergency consultation at present.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
