What Causes Pain And White Discharge From Ears?

My 13yr old was on vacation in Virginia with his friends family and developed swimmers ear. The mother took him to CVS where the pharmacist gave him over the counter drops!to use. He is home now with no pain or discomfort but I noticed he had what looked like crust around the opening of the canal. I believe it was drainage from the ear. When I looked in his ear, he has this milky white stuff in there. Not sure what to do. Nflush it out or take him to the pediatrician.

Hello,

Most of the time, any fluid leaking out of an ear is ear wax. A ruptured eardrum can cause a white, slightly bloody, or yellow discharge from the ear. Dry crusted material on your pillow is often a sign of a ruptured eardrum. The eardrum may also bleed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
